A National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

The National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award, one of the nation’s top education awards, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and honors schools that are models of academic success. Each state’s nominees must demonstrate dramatically improving student performance on state assessments. In 2007, Presidio School was selected from over 120,000 public, charter, and private schools as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Only four Arizona schools and 287 schools in the nation were so honored.  Kristin Bannerman, U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary, cited high test scores and the school’s rigorous curriculum as the basis for the school’s selection. She further stated, “Presidio is a model for the rest of the country.”

Kindergarten - 12th Grade Configuration

Presidio adopted a K-12 configuration based upon research that indicates it promotes improvements in academic achievement, social development, attendance and overall behavior of the students at all grade levels.  This theory has been successfully demonstrated at Presidio as evidenced by test scores consistently above state levels; a campus virtually free of violence, and a campus where students, parents and faculty refer to the school community as the Presidio Family.
