Principal’s Report
- Building 300 and HS Courtyard Project
- The work on both projects has been completed and the high school students could not be happier. Presidio staff plan to finalize the Response to Intervention and Teachers’ Lounge move back into Building 300 over Fall Break and will have a ribbon cutting ceremony to “officially” open the building during the All-School Flag ceremony scheduled for October 20, 2023.
- 1695 Courtyard Project
- Presidio’s Facilities Manager, Business Manager, and Principal are meeting with representatives from Play It Safe and Weem’s Asphalt to walk the 1695 parking lot in order to finalize the information needed for Play It Safe to submit its estimate for the grading and draining. Presidio would like to begin work on the grading and drainage over Winter Break in an effort to minimize impact on the students.
- Assisteens PE Grant
- Presidio applied for and received a $2000 grant for PE equipment from Assisteens. Presidio’s Directors of Curriculum and Instruction have put together a supply list of items for unstructured play and will submit after Fall Break.
- Title 1 National Program
- Presidio has been invited to submit an application for recognition for the Title 1 National Program, sent to Presidio from the Arizona Department of Education. The application is due on/before October 13, 2023.
- 3rd Best High School from Niche
- Niche’s annual report stated that Presidio School is ranked as the 3rd best high school in Tucson, behind
- Superintendent Horn’s Character Counts Press Release
- Presidio was asked to present at Superintendent Horn’s Character Counts Press Release on October 19, 2023. As a longtime supporter of the Character Counts program, Superintendent Horn is pleased to see Presidio incorporating it into our Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
