Principal’s Report
Presidio Board Meeting
October 13, 2020
5:00 PM
- Pima County Health Department visit
- Presidio passed all three of our Pima County Health Department inspections.
- One of these inspections was so the school could obtain the Ready-For-You-Badge that shows the school is following the Pima County Board of Supervisors Proclamation requiring COVID-19 protective measures to help slow and stop the spread of COVID-19.
- Security Breach
- Explanation/impacts
- Hacker entered using a stolen employee’s username and password on 10.07.2020 at 5:00 PM and not as ransomware normally enters (through spam email)
- The security breach did not follow a “normal” ransomware pattern, so IT Manager believes that it was someone testing their skills/playing around
- There is no evidence that information was stolen resulting in minimal impact to most users.
- Precautions
- Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure Presidio’s system was completely cleaned, the IT Manager:
- Filed a police report filed on 10.10.2020 (with Principal)
- Wiped and rebuilt servers
- Wiped and rebuilt all desktop computers
- Faculty and staff sign in is limited to only the computers assigned to faculty and staff.
- Paras will be able to sign onto supervising teachers’ desktops
- New passwords
- Currently new passwords are only for access to Presidio desktops, but will be the new password for desktops, Google, Tyler, and Canvas by Halloween.
- See email from Phil regarding changes.
- When changing password, please send it via text message to either Phil or JMP.
- Jess MP: 520-260-6955
- Phil: 313-213-3449
- Be careful about emails you are opening. If you have a concern about an email, you can reach out to Phil or JMP to verify the validity of the email.
- Staffing
- Suzanne McCullough – First grade teacher
- Open positions – Middle School Math teacher, Middle School ELA teacher
- Flag Ceremony for Mrs. Kruse’s retirement
- Provided with the quilt made by Kendra Baker
- Presidio Family was able to share their memories
- Mrs. Kruse led the flag and some songs.
