- Given that although the Pima County Health Department has lifted the county-wide mask mandate, the Pima County transmission risk remains “high” and Pima County has left mask policies up to each individual school district, it is proposed that the Presidio School Mask policy will be revised to continue requiring masks be worn indoors, but remove the requirement that masks be worn outdoors on the Presidio Campus.
Moved by: Terry Garza Seconded by: Tom Drexel Outcome: Passed Unanimously
- Given that the Pima County transmission risk remains “high” it is proposed that Presidio School will enforce the COVID related large gathering policies and procedures and continue enforcement as long as the Pima County transmission risk remains “high.”
Moved by: Terry Garza Seconded by: Jessica Montierth Outcome: Passed Unanimously
- Given that the Pima County transmission risk remains “high” it is proposed that Presidio School will enforce the COVID related moratorium on student overnight/out-of-town trips and continue enforcement as long as the Pima County transmission risk remains “high.”
Moved by: Terry Garza Seconded by: Tom Drexel Outcome: Passed Unanimously
- To approve a four-year subscription for Savvas Learning Math curriculum for grades 3-5 in order to align with the curriculum currently in place for those grade levels and with that being used in grades K-2 and to provide sufficient time to research and review alternate curriculum for future use.
Moved by: Jessica Montierth Seconded by: Terry Garza Outcome: Passed Unanimously
- To reject the 5-year school photography contract presented by Jim Earls Fine Portraiture as it presented no benefits to the school and could encumber flexibility in securing the best costs for parents and students.
Moved by: Tom Drexel Seconded by: Jessica Montierth Outcome: Passed Unanimously
Discussion Items:
- Moving from Square to ProCare for Aftercare and My School Bucks for fees associated with uniforms, student meals, Chromebook insurance, etc.
- There is a small fee for ProCare transactions which will be covered by an increase in Presidio rates.
- Both ProCare and My School Bucks allow for parents to view their accounts, make payments, and register their children electronically, which is in line with mitigation strategies and offers ease of payment and account accessibility.

Principal’s Report
- Employee Morale
- The Leadership Team viewed an article about suggestions to boost morale; JM has included suggestions for staff shout outs in the Presidio Peeps newsletter. Leadership is also sending out more surveys to get feedback and ensure voices are heard. Unfortunately, large gatherings, group meetings, etc. are not feasible at this time due to the Board’s decision to refrain from large gatherings.
- Presidio Peeps Newsletters
- JM has received some feedback about the weekly newsletters. They seem to serve the purpose of being another vehicle to provide information on a weekly basis to all faculty and staff. Unfortunately, JM has been the one to write the staff shout outs as others are not providing information on a regular basis.
- Staff Updates
- WE is on the mend and will return to work on Friday, March 4, 2022. In his absence SM and the middle school staff have worked together to ensure that lessons are planned and learning continues.
- VB resigned from his position as a paraprofessional in order to focus on his schooling so JM moved AE from 5th grade to 2nd grade. RD was hired during the last week in February and is working the same hours as VB. As a paraprofessional, she is in 5th grade and is helping out with Aftercare.
- BH will start on March 7 as the 4th grade paraprofessional and will work in Aftercare in after school. This should ensure that Aftercare is fully staffed.
- Presidio has a great candidate for the Facilities Manager position, but is waiting for his fingerprint clearance card to become valid in order to provide him with a letter of intent for hire.
- SY 22/23 Letters of intent – Letters of intent are going out this week. We have some open positions due to subject area/grade level changes and staff members not returning
- Cycle 4 Monitoring Update
- Presidio successfully completed its Cycle 4 Programmatic Monitoring and will progress to Cycle 5 without further follow-up from ADE. Presidio was provided with a letter containing feedback for future cycle monitoring and will take that feedback into consideration moving forward.
- Cleaning Crew Survey
- A survey was sent out after the January Board Meeting to faculty and staff regarding the effectiveness of the cleaning crew. The survey results were provided to the Board and show mixed reviews. JM will redact names and provide the survey results to Frank, the cleaning crew manager and work with him to make improvements.
