Principal’s Report:
- Back to School Sub Committee
- Invited to participate by Pima County Superintendent Dustin Williams
- First meeting occurred on Monday, August 10, 2020
- Meeting was televised on KOLD13
- Weekly participation in PCHD Public/Charter School meetings to discuss most recent guidance from ADE, AHD, PCHD, and CDC
- Guidance received has been included in the 20/21 SY Reopening Plan
- PCHD has broken the 3 AHD criteria into subcategories:
- Disease Criteria
- Decreasing cases over two consecutive weeks
- Decreasing COVID-19 related deaths over 14 days
- Decreasing hospitalizations
- Healthcare Capacity Criteria
- Lab testing availability and utilization
- Adequate hospital bed capacity to care for 2x the current COVID cases (+ surge) statewide
- Sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) for Emergency Responders
- Public Health Capacity Criteria
- Timely case investigation
- Testing of symptoms contracts within 48 hours
- Facilities/support for parents who can’t be discharged home – statewide
- Nurse/health aide
- Recommended by PCHD. If the school does not have a nurse/health aide, Presidio needs to designate someone.
- Staffing
- Open positions
- 2nd grade paraprofessional
- 5th grade paraprofessional
- Enrollment
- ADM is low (about 365 from 406)
- Families are concerned about the daily/weekly schedules and their perceived lack of flexibility with the schedule.
- Kinder families are concerned about their children starting school this year and are opting to wait to start school until 2021/2022 SY.
