2015 High School Seniors

Interested in joining the Presidio Family?

Our high school seniors worked hard on completing college applications and applying for scholarships. Below is a list of just what our seniors accomplished.  Special thanks to Joy Barr, Pima College Upward Bound Program Coordinator and Rachel Green, Presidio School Transition Services Coordinator for all of their help!  It is important to note that many of the scholarships earned are a result of Presidio Student participation in the Upward Bound Program.

Total amount of scholarship money awarded so far to the Presidio high school class of 2015:  $490,760

Ana Avila:

  • Ana received a full scholarship to attend Northern Arizona University.  She was awarded the Lumber Jack Scholarship of $9,120 per year which is $36, 480 for 4 years to earn a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ana was also accepted into the University of Arizona and received the Wildcat Excellence Award of $6,000 for which this scholarship totals $24,000 for a 4 year Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ana has also been accepted into Arizona State University and qualified for the Obama Scholars Program.  The Obama Scholars Program covers tuition, housing, and books ) $21,000 annually totaling $84,000 for a 4 year degree!

Maria Duarte:

  • Maria has been accepted into the University of Arizona.
  • Maria has been awarded a Pell grant. The amount of grant has yet to be determined.

Misty Farrar:

  • Misty has been accepted into the University of Arizona.
  • Semi-finalist for the Dell Scholars scholarship
  • Named 2015 Dorothy Finley Oustanding Teen Citizens by the Metropolitan Education Commision’s (MEC) Youth Advisory Council Tucson Teen Congress (YAC/TTC) and City of Tucson Parks and Recreation.

Gabe Garland-Rodgers:

  • Gabe has been accepted into the University of Arizona.

Noel Hamideh:

  • Noel received a full scholarship to attend Northern Arizona University.  She was awarded the Lumber Jack Scholarship of $9,120 per year which is $36, 480 for 4 years to earn a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Noel was also accepted to Grand Canyon University and is the recipient of the 2015 President Scholarship valued at $7,750 per year which is $31,000 for 4 years to earn a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Noel has also been accepted into Arizona State University and qualified for the Obama Scholars Program.  The Obama Scholars Program covers tuition, housing, and books ) $21,000 annually totaling $84,000 for a 4 year degree!
  • Noel was selected for the University of Arizona Assurance Scholarship.  This scholarship pays for her academics and housing for 4 years.

Brandon Lucero

  • Brandon has been accepted into the University of Arizona

David Nicholson:

  • David has been accepted into St. John’s University, New York. David received a $60,000 scholarship (4 year Bachelor degree) to St. John’s University.
  • David was also accepted to Ohio University.
  • Also, David was accepted into the University of Arizona.

Amanda Spafford:

  • Amanda has been accepted into the University of Arizona.
  • She was also selected to be in National Society of Honor Students

Mahmoud Wahab:

  • Mahmoud has been accepted into the University of Arizona.

Skyler Vaillencourt:

  • Skyler has been accepted into the University of Arizona.
  • Skyler has been awarded the Wildcat Excellence Award of $6000 per year, $24000 total.

Stefan Veljkovic

  • Stefan Veljkovic has been accepted to the University of Arizona

Mario Vargas:

  • Mario Vargas has been accepted to the University of Arizona and received the Wildcat Excellence Award of $6000 a year, $24,000 total.
  • Mario was also selected as a candidate for the United States Presidential Scholars Program based on his SAT scores and grades.  The application is by invitation only; students do not apply individually to the program, nor do their schools nominate them.  If chosen, he will be provided an expense paid trip to Washington D.C. in June!
